【#Tech24H】The world’s first highpressure directinjection pure ammonia internal combustion engine for heavyduty commercial vehicles recently ignited and ran stably in Changshu, Jiangsu Province. This engine is the first prototype developed under the project "Key Technology Development and Application of Dedicated Ammonia Internal Combustion Engines for HeavyDuty Commercial Vehicle Hybrid Powertrains," led by Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd. The ammoniatohydrogen system used in this ignition adopts a catalytic cracking highpressure hydrogen production route, breaking through the technical barrier of efficient catalytic conversion of ammonia to hydrogen under lowtemperature and highpressure conditions. Equipped with a novel lowtemperature rutheniumbased catalyst, this system can efficiently produce hydrogen from ammonia in the range of 400 Celsius Degree minus 450 Celsius Degree, significantly reducing the energy consumption and hightemperature losses of the hydrogen production equipment. [ By Zhang Liyan | Tang Ruohan ]
