【#Tech24H】According to a recent report on NASA’s official website, the United States has completed critical tests of a next-generation Mars helicopter rotor. In a simulated Martian atmosphere, the blade tip speed exceeded the speed of sound, reaching 1.08 Mach (1 Mach is equal to the speed of sound), boosting the lift of the Mars aircraft by 30%. In subsequent tests, the two-bladed SkyFall rotor achieved a similar speed at just 3,570 revolutions per minute. This breakthrough will lay the foundation for future Mars aircraft to carry heavier scientific instruments and payloads and conduct low-altitude exploration. [ By Zhang Liyan | Tang Ruohan ]
