【#Tech24H】Recently, the nation’s first green power direct-supply project featuring computing-power collaboration was put into operation in Zhongwei City, with an annual power supply of 9.7 billion kWh. On a vast expanse of Gobi Desert one kilometer south of the Zhongwei Cloud Base, endless photovoltaic panels glitter under the sun. The electric current flows through four 110 kV transmission lines into the switching station of the cloud base, and is then distributed to power-using enterprises. Zhongwei is a Class I solar resource area and a Class III wind resource area in China, with average annual utilization hours exceeding 1,500 for solar power and 2,000 for wind power, providing abundant green energy reserves. The green power direct-supply model eliminates intermediate links such as the grid, reduces losses, and can effectively lower electricity prices. [ By Zhang Liyan | Tang Ruohan ]
