Beijing, January 19 (Youth.cn) - On January 8, 2026, Przewalski’s horses were seen in the Dunhuang West Lake National Nature Reserve. Since the reserve began reintroducing Przewalski’s horses in 2010, the population has now reached 212 individuals. The program has transitioned from an experimental rewilding phase to a free-living wild population stage, with the horses now able to rely entirely on their own abilities to survive and reproduce in the wild, showing signs of self-sustenance and growth.
