
【#Tech24H】A team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University has released VCWorld, an AI virtual cell model that functions as a “biological world simulator”. Acting like a “cell detective”, it can progressively reason and predict the effects of new drugs on genes, overcoming the limitations of black-box approaches. Verified experimentally, it offers an explainable and traceable new pathway for drug development. Its core technology lies in an AI scientist system that combines large language models with knowledge graphs to enhance prediction. The team has built a knowledge graph of known human knowledge, such as drug-target relationships and target-disease connections, modeled in an explicit, structured manner.
