Beijing, August 27 (Youth.cn) - On August 24, 2025, the world’s first super zero-carbon building—the TELD headquarters base—was officially inaugurated in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The launch of this building marks a new milestone in China’s progress toward zero-carbon architecture.
Standing 117 meters tall with 23 office floors, the world’s first super zero-carbon building consumes approximately 6,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity daily. Its east, south, and west facades are equipped with building-integrated photovoltaic glass curtains, effectively clothing the structure in a "power-generating coat" that supplies direct current. This setup not only enables localized usage but also avoids losses associated with converting DC to AC, providing about 25% of the building’s green energy and reducing carbon emissions by nearly 500 tons annually. In addition to solar power, the building achieves 100% green energy substitution through the use of cascaded energy storage batteries and discharge from new energy vehicles. Photo/CFP
