Beijing, July 22 (Youth.cn) - As the dog days arrive, lotuses reach their peak blooming period. At the Harbin Grand Theater's lotus pond, over half of the lotuses have already bloomed, with pale pink and snow-white flowers carpeting the water's surface, while large lotus leaves spread like a "forest" across the pond. On the boardwalks, citizens and tourists frequently stop to take photos.
Gray-winged black terns, yellow bitterns, Eurasian coots, and great crested grebes - migratory birds - forage and nest in the lotus pond. Adult birds are often seen moving about with this year's fledglings, turning the pond into a "nursery" for migratory birds. Photo/CFP
