Beijing, June 5 (Youth. cn) - On June 2, 2025, China’s first hydrogen-powered tourism tram, named the “Hydro-Chun”, was delivered and debuted on Hongqi Street in Changchun. The tram will be operated on Route 54, marking a significant milestone in Changchun’s green transportation development and showcasing a deep integration of the city’s traditional industrial heritage with new kinetic energy.
Developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., the “Hydro-Chun” tram was equipped with a Sinosynergy fuel battery system. It requires no external power supply infrastructure and produces zero carbon emissions with no environmental pollution during operation, which represents a breaking achievement for green mobility.
The tram’s hydrogen storage system employs a metal matrix wrapped with carbon fiber winding structure which can stand high-intensity impacts. Its hydrogen supply system features a triple-layer safety protection design, ensuring safe and reliable power system operation. With a single refueling range exceeding 320 kilometers and an average energy consumption of just 1.5 kWh per kilometer, the tram is well-suited for mid-to-long distance transportation needs. Photo/CFP
