Trump on Tuesday announced plans for a $175 billion “Golden Dome” missile-defense system, although the Congressional Budget Office said it would likely cost far more, as much as $542 billion. It has raised concerns that such efforts risk accelerating the weaponization of outer space and triggering a dangerous arms race, while spending billions which could be used on other more important matters.
