Beijing, May 19 (Youth.cn) - On May 18, 2025, in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, the rhythmic drumbeats of Liede Village's dragon boats echoed across Tianhe District's waterways as the millennia-old Cai Qing (Green Harvest) ritual unfolded, drawing crowds of spectators to witness this living heritage.
Performed annually between the 28th-30th days of the fourth lunar month, the ceremony saw boatmen navigate ceremonial routes in their clan's designated waterways. Crews propelled dragon boats adorned with fresh rice stalks and sacred "dragon swords" - the ritual's symbolic "greens" - making three ceremonial passes to complete the energy-gathering rite.
