Beijing, May 14 (Youth.cn) - On May 13, 2025, Zhejiang’s first archaeological museum - the Hangzhou Yujia Mountain Archaeological Museum - announced that it had been fully completed and would officially open to the public on May 18, the International Museum Day.
Covering an area of approximately 27 mu (about 18,000 square meters) with a total construction area of 25,000 square meters, the museum is designed around the concept of "using jade as a medium and architectural framework as mountains," blending architectural art with archaeological culture. It serves as a comprehensive cultural space integrating cultural relic protection, exhibition, collection, and education.
The museum’s displays center on the ring-trench settlement first discovered in the Liangzhu Culture, with a focus on the Yujia Mountain Site, Linping Site Cluster, and Maoshan Site. A total of 1,800 artifacts from the Liangzhu period are on exhibit, offering a comprehensive portrayal of the settlement patterns and cultural connotations of prehistoric inhabitants in Hangzhou’s Linping region.
