Beijing, May 9 (Youth.cn) - On May 9, 2025, the Chongqing section of the Chongqing-Xiamen High-Speed Railway (Yu-Xia HSR) has officially entered its operational trial phase, following the successful completion of comprehensive joint debugging and testing. The milestone was marked by the departure of test train 55901 from Chongqing East Station, signaling the final preparations before full service begins.
As a critical segment of China’s “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” national high-speed rail network, the Chongqing section stretches from Chongqing Station through Yuzhong, Nan’an, Banan, Nanchuan, Wulong, and Pengshui districts, terminating in Qianjiang District. Designed for speeds of 350 km/h, the line will slash travel time between central Chongqing and Qianjiang from the current four hours to under one hour upon operation. Photo/CFP
