Beijing, May 6 (Youth.cn) - On May 5, 2025, in Hohhot, amid gentle rains heralding Lixia (Beginning of Summer), wild milu deer reclaimed their ancestral rhythms within Inner Mongolia’s Daqingshan National Nature Reserve, being spotted galloping through mist-cloaked valleys, grazing on tender shoots, and engaging in playful sparring, their russet summer coats glistening under emergent sunlight.
Once teetering on extinction, these ecological ambassadors now thrive due to decades of habitat restoration. Through reforestation initiatives and wetland restoration programs, the reserve has become a biodiversity hotspot. The reserve now shelters 10 species of national first-class protected animals.
