Photo List Leather carving artisan preserve intangible cultural heritage

Beijing, March 18 (Youth.cn) On March 17, Meng Lulu was organizing the female armor she designed and crafted in her leather carving studio, in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The piece, which took three months to complete, gained online attention after a video of Meng wearing it went viral. As a representative inheritor of Urumqi municipal-level intangible cultural heritage in leather carving, Meng has been running her studio for over a decade. Her works often feature Xinjiang-inspired motifs such as the Tianshan snow leopard, almond patterns, eagles, and snow-capped mountains, seamlessly merging traditional craftsmanship with regional cultural identity.
