Beijing, March 17 (Youth.cn) - On March 14, 2025, the AGOGO FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel - the world's first carbon-capture-equipped offshore energy platform bearing Singaporean registry - concluded all sea trials ahead of schedule at Donghai's Luhuashan Anchorage in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, embarking on its operational deployment.
Converted from a 2013-built VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier), this maritime engineering feat was retrofitted by Chinese shipbuilders within 24 months, setting the fastest conversion record for ships of its class. The revamped AGOGO FPSO integrates hydrocarbon production, storage, and offloading capabilities. With a length of 333 meters and beam of 60 meters, its upper section houses an oil and gas processing plant while the lower section serves as storage tanks, achieving a daily crude output capacity of 120,000 barrels.
