
Beijing, March 7 (Youth.cn) - On March 6, 2025, the main pylon on the Liuheng Island side of the Shuangyumen Mega Bridge - part of the Second Phase of the Liuheng Highway Bridge Project in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province - towers majestically along the coastline, having reached a height of 158 meters.
As a critical component of the bridges of the Ningbo Zhoushan Port Liuheng Highway, the Shuangyumen Mega Bridge connects Liuheng Island and Fodu Island. It is currently the world’s longest single-span steel box girder suspension bridge, with a main span of 1,768 meters. The pylons on both sides are designed to reach heights of 246.3 meters (Liuheng Island side) and 254 meters (Fodu Island side), constructed jointly by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau and China Railway Construction Port and Channel Engineering Bureau.
To date, the pylons have reached 158 meters (Liuheng Island side) and 140 meters (Fodu Island side). Photo/CFP
