Beijing, February 25 (Youth.cn) - On February 24, 2025, construction of the Zhangjingao Yangtze River Bridge in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province, is in full swing. Key sections such as the South Main Tower, South Approach Span Segmental Girders, and Anchorage Zone are bustling with activity.
As the world's longest-span bridge under construction, this project marks China's first breakthrough in bridge engineering beyond the 2,000-meter span threshold. It is set to achieve six world records:
Longest bridge span (2,300 meters)
Tallest suspension bridge towers (350 meters)
Longest high-strength main cables (4,300 meters)
Largest diaphragm wall anchorage foundation (110.05m × 75.05m × 83m)
Longest continuous steel box girder
Largest displacement expansion joints.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the bridge will significantly advance the Yangtze River Economic Belt and Yangtze River Delta integration, optimize cross-river transportation networks, and strengthen connectivity among Suzhou, Taizhou, and Nantong. Photo/CFP
