Beijing, December 11 (Youth.cn) - Intangible cultural inheritor Gong Lianglan was showing how to make the bainiaoyi or hundred-bird dress in a Miao village in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province on December 6th. Wax printing and embroidery techniques are used to make Miao costume, which stitch method and pattern design are the most important parts. Women in the Miao village take handmade cloth as the cloth material and make patterns of dragons, birds, insects and fishes by using wax printing and embroidery techniques. These patterns reflect the delicate handmade techniques and unique aesthetic taste of Miao people. For this reason, the bainiaoyi gained the reputation of “wearable Miao Epic”. Photo/VCG
