Beijing, November 14 (Youth.cn) - Photo taken in a Miao village in Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province on November 11th. An old man, together with his son, was making reed-pipe wind instruments. The 63-year-old man started to learn, from his father, how to make reed-pipe wind instruments since he was 23. After one year’s learning, he managed the skills and became more skillful. To carrying forward this intangible cultural heritage, he taught his son to learn this skill. Now, the three generations in the family are all proficients. Lusheng, the reed-pipe wind instrument, is a traditional Miao instrument. In Miao village, folk activities are frequent, people play the lusheng in their celebrations. “Everything can be composed to a lusheng melody, everywhere is filled with lusheng music” - a folk proverb describes vividly the importance of this traditional instrument. This social background is good for the inheritance of lusheng industry. The skill is transmitted and villagers’ incomes increase. Photo/VCG
