Beijing, November 5 (Youth.cn) - The 6th generation inheritor of new year wood-block print, Xu Jiahui sticks to his original intention during his 45 years’ career. The 57-year-old man settled in Chongqing concentrates on his art skills and engages in the inheritance of the intangible cultural heritage.
His new year wood-block prints mainly describe gate-god, myths and opera stories. His art works are unique for strong color contrast, full composition and delicate description. In symmetrical prints, one may see various patterns. In static prints, one may feel the dynamism of the characters. The folk art that tells rural stories emphasis straightforward, rough and simple beauty of rural life.
