Beijing, November 1 (Youth.cn) - Muji crater is known for its another name “eye of Pamir”. It is famous for its unique geographical characteristics and natural landscape. Muji crater, officially named the “Karatyurek Volcanic Group”, is located in Akto County, Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. It is in the deep part of the Pamir Plateau. Its altitude is between 3500 meters to 3800 meters. Formed 1500 years ago, it is constituted from a dozen of craters of different shapes. The scenic spot of Muji crater consists the volcano itself, but also wetlands, forming glaciers, glacial lakes and ice caves. The volcano was defined, by research team of academician Liu Jialin, as “sinter-form volcano”. Muji crater is the first “sinter-form volcano” found in China. Photo/VCG
