In the first three quarters of this year, air and surface water quality overall improved in China, according to the information published by Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China on October 22nd. According to the air quality data, the proportion of good air quality days in 339 cities at or above the prefecture level in the first three quarters in this year was 88.5%, achieved 1.6% year-on-year growth, while the proportion of bad air quality days was 1.1%, that is 0.7% less compared to the last year. As for surface water quality data, in 3,641 national surface water assessment sections, 88.5% sections’ surface water was evaluated as good quality, with year-on-year growth of 1.4%. In 7 key drainage basins, including the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, and rivers in north-west, south-west and regions near Fujian Province and Zhejiang Province, assessment sections with surface water above class C quality has grown 0.8% year on year.
