Chinese Scientists Propose Framework for Asteroid Detection and Defense System
At the third International Deep Space Exploration Conference (Tiandu Forum) held recently in Hefei City, Anhui Province, Chinese scientists comprehensively elaborated for the first time on China’s conceptual framework for an asteroid detection and defense system. The proposal includes three key components: first, establishing an integrated space-ground collaborative monitoring and early warning system; second, developing orbital handling capabilities centered on kinetic impact supplemented by multiple technologies; finally, planning and implementing a "fly-along + impact + fly-along" demonstration mission to accurately assess impact effects through joint space-ground observation. The initiative also extends a call for global collaboration.
