"We should avoid saying 'No' when we communicate with passengers," said Li Zhengqin, a train conductor with the Chengdu Passenger Transport Section of China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd.
She made the remarks while comparing notes with fellow crew members of trains serving the 31st Summer World University Games.
Li, 32, has worked in the section for 10 years, first as an ordinary train crew member and then as a conductor.
In 2013, Li joined the section as a vocational school graduate and became a train crew member.
After 5 years of hard work, Li obtained the qualification of train conductor and became a bullet train conductor the next year.
This year, Li has been selected to serve as a conductor for the 31st Summer World University Games. She will operate a train for tourist destinations in Ya'an and Chengdu cities. Each trip will take 30 and 50 minutes, according to Tian Xiaochuan, an official with the section.
Li has received a month of intensive training with more than 50 crew members serving the Games.
In order to excel, Li has started working on the train in advance to familiarize herself with the new job and accumulate practical experience.
As her passengers will be from different countries, Li has taken a crash course to learn English and can now communicate in English, Tian said.
