Beijing, June 25 (Youth.cn) -June 24th marks the seventh day of the fifth lunar month in 2023, and in Hengjiangxia Village, Changping Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, a dry dragon procession was held.
The tradition of the wooden dragon procession in Hengjiangxia Village dates back to the reign of Emperor Shunzhi during the Qing Dynasty and was officially listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Guangdong Province in 2009. Every year on the seventh and eighth days of the fifth lunar month, Hengjiangxia Village hosts a grand dry dragon procession as a folk cultural event, with the custom of "dragging the dragon boat on dry land" to pray for good weather and national prosperity.
