It may not be Lapland but Him-melp-fort in Germany's eastern state of Brandenburg is the next best thing. The name means, "Heaven's Gate" but to hundreds of children it's a gateway to Santa's ear.

Himmelpfort is one of 7 Christmas post office depots in Germany and is the country's most loved.

Even though it's more than a month until Christmas the children that went to see Santa in person already know what they want.

It is not just German children who write in, the Post Office receives about 280,000 letters a year from about 80 countries.

Santa Klaus said, "The kids write to me in all sorts of different languages. It's lucky Santa Claus can speak more than 17 languages."

Santa Klaus and his angel helpers will be in the post office until Christmas making sure all the children get their letters answered.

"Just write to me at, Santa Klaus, The Christmas Post Office, Himmelpfort, 16798 - Himmelpfort. And then I will write to you. Happy Christmas," said Santa Klaus.

And a Happy Christmas to you too.
