Obama showed up in the White House press briefing room, leading all reporters present in singing Happy Birthday to Helen Thomas, a columnist with Hearst Newspaper, while presenting her a plate of cupcakes with birthday candles on them.
Thomas turned 89 on Tuesday, while the president turned 48.
