Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has called for efforts to develop the country's motor industry by technology updating, state media reported on Wednesday.

The DPRK will inject more investment into the auto industry in a bid to complete "the huge technological updating" in a short time, Kim said as he paid a visit to a truck plant, named Sungri Motor Complex.

He noted that accessory plants should guarantee supplies to the truck plant, and that the head of the plant should pay more attention to the life of the workers so as to maintain their "revolutionary enthusiasm," thus increasing the production of trucks.

The report didn't give the date of the inspection nor the location of the plant.
