French fashion house Christian Dior fired its star designer John Galliano on Tuesday after an online video showed him praising Adolf Hitler and using racist slurs at a Paris bar, according to Reuters news report.

Dior Chief Executive Sidney Toledano confirmed that Galliano was relieved of his duties for the "odious nature" of his comments and behavior on the video.

The video that got Galliano into trouble was posted on the website of Britain's The Sun newspaper and on YouTube. It shows him hurling anti-Semitic insults at people he thought were Jewish-linked and captures him declaring "I love Hitler."

It was not Galliano’s first time to have involved himself in a racist incident. Earlier last week he was arrested over an alleged anti-Semitic assault against a couple – a Jewish woman and an Asian man, according to the French daily le Figaro , which had access to police reports with eyewitness accounts.

Last week Dior announced its decision to suspend Galliano as the company sought to investigate the claims of anti-Semitism. The vital video prompted the designer’s quick dismissal.

Galliano had served with Christian Dior for 15 years as the label’s chief designer. He was laid off just three days before Dior's catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week.
