Don't think Zhang Yimou is content to rest on his success after directing the opening and closing ceremonies for the Beijing Olympics last year. In October, Zhang will return to the Bird's Nest and attempt to outdo himself with a spectacular staging of Puccini's famous opera "Turandot". Now, the chorus members are busy rehearsing for the opera.

The chorus plays a role no less important than the leading actors in "Turandot". Unlike his contemporaries, Punccini featured a large chorus, making them an irreplaceable factor in the opera.

Under the baton of the Italian conductor Janos Acs, the chorus from China's Central Opera House is now rehearsing for their debut at the Bird's Nest.

Janos Acs has teamed up with Zhang Yimou several times, and has won accolades for being rigorous with every detail.

More noteworthy, a children's chorus will also join the show. The twelve child singers are between eight to twelve years old.

Director Chen Weiya said, "This is the second rehearsal of the two chorus groups. All of the performers are showing their talent and enthusiasm. The conductor has expressed his satisfaction with our chorus members."

"Turandot" will be staged at the National Stadium on October 6th and 7th.
