Now, let's take another look at the latest trends coming out of New York Fashion Week Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, and Diane von Furstenberg presented their spring/summer 2010 collection.

Carolina Herrera inspired by Japanese craft

Carolina Herrera's show took its cues from hand-crafted baskets -- weaving ribbons and fabrics in intricate detail.

Textured fabrics came in a mostly natural color palette that ranged from redwood brown to light stone, but there were also rich and deep hues of amber, rose and caramel. According to Herrera's own notes, these shades are meant to evoke the "waning light cast at the end of a summer's day" .

The collection has a decidedly organic quality and feel.

Something new in place of her classic suits -- cinched jackets with shorts or cropped pants. And of course, evening wear also with the look of a hand-craft -- long, fishtail gowns embellished with woven metal embroidery and crystals.

Derek Lam goes Retro carnival at Fashion Week

It was time for Derek Lam to have some fun, so he infused a bit of retro carnival atmosphere into the Bryant Park Tents venue.

His spring collection was a departure for the designer, who is known for sophisticated and elegant clothes.
