Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on July 6 that Brazil will be in conditions to debate with the rich countries as an equal in the upcoming Group of Eight (G8) Summit in Italy.
In his weekly radio show "Breakfast with the President," Lula said he believes that due to the current global economic scenario, no big decision can be made without taking into consideration the position of the so-called BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, China and India).
Lula also reaffirmed his stance that the Group of 20 (G20), gathering both developed and emerging countries, would be a better forum to discuss the crisis than the G8.
The G20 has a meeting scheduled for September.
