Millions of voters began polling Thursday morning in India's general elections which is due to last for nearly one month and carried out in five phases.
Most of the votings in the first phase will be in central, eastern and northeastern states and India-controlled Kashmir, where some 140 million voters are eligible to vote.
Left-wing rebels Thursday staged an attack against India's security forces in the central state of Jharkhand, which is among the first states to cast votes.
One was injured in the attack when Naxal rebels hurled a bomb at a government forces' post in Latehar of the state, according to local TV channel Times Now. |
