The Indonesian government opened a grand expo in Jakarta on June 26 aiming at spurring the creative industry to boost national economic growth.
"I have a conviction that creative industry will be developed well across the country," Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in his remarks when opened the expo in Jakarta.
The president said that creative industry is expected to help improve the economy among the public and eventually spurs the national economic growth since it can be developed by plenty of talented individuals across the country.
For an initial step, President Susilo said that government would oblige elementary schools across the country to provide the basic knowledge of creative industry to their students.
As the following steps, government would provide greater assistance, including bank loans, for domestic creative industry businessmen, he added.
According to Public Welfare Minister Aburizal Bakrie who chairs the expo's organizing committee, more than 860 participants take part in the expo that would last in June 28.
