The publicity shots in 1967 showed the young Sarkozy in a blue T-Shirt and blondehair which is said to have been tinted for the ad.

It’s reported that French President Nicolas Sarkozy was a child model for a washing powder named “Bonux”, one of the leading brands of the day, at the age of 12. Sarkozy looks a lot younger than 12 in the picture.

The publicity shots in 1967 showed the young Sarkozy in a blue T-Shirt and blonde hair which is said to have been tinted for the ad. He held a model plane and was telling a story about flying to China.

The extraordinary news means that both Sarkozy and the First Lady Bruni were former models who now inhabit the Elysee Palace.

The photo of Sarkozy was ignored for more than 40 years until recently when former employees of Bonux confirmed it was indeed an image of the president.

It is said that the job was given to the president by his father Pal Sarkozy who was an advertising copywriter with the Bonux brand at the time.
