A gigantic stone statue of Madam Soong Chingling, Honorary President of the People's Republic of China and wife of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, is being produced in Quanzhou city, southeast China's Fujian Province, to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the 1911 Revolution or Xinhai Revolution, Quanzhou Evening News reports.
Standing more than 24 meters tall, the enormous statue has to be divided into nearly 1,800 parts, and will be moved to Zhengzhou city, Henan Province for installation.
The sculpting process utilized a human body scanning technique used in medical science, providing detailed parameters based on a small sample model of the statue. The application of the new technique in the preliminary stages saved on cost and time according to the manufacturing company.
The statue carries the message of "peace, unity and future" which were all advocated by Madam Soon Chingling, said a manager of the manufacturing company.
