Chinese entrepreneurship recognized in Dalian

The 2015 Summer Davos has wrapped up in China's northeastern city of Dalian with many ideas and ideals taking root. One of them was entrepreneurship. This year, many young Chinese and international entrepreneurs attended the forum, where they exchanged their experiences, ideas and dreams.

Their eyes burn bright as they share their start-up stories. China is experiencing a start-up boom, and these young entrepreneurs feel their presence at the Summer Davos has been long overdue.

Jiang Shujie is a young mother and that's what inspired her to start her own business. Jiang said:"The idea arose out of my own rather painful experience. I faced a lot of challenges after giving birth and when I tried to seek professional help, I found the market to be a mess. So I decided to create a platform myself."

The central and local governments have rolled out a series of policies to encourage young Chinese like Shen Aixiang to open up their own business.

"About 4% of the students that graduated the same year as I did from my school, Zhejiang University, either have started or are trying to start their own businesses. This brings a lot of employment. And this is something I feel personally," said Shen.

Over 840,000 new companies were registered in the first quarter of this year, a 38% increase from the same period last year. And there's no doubt the Chinese government has thrown its weight behind these start-ups.

Premier Li Keqiang even began his keynote speech at the Summer Davos with a story of his visit to a Dalian start-up.

  Chinese premier underlines entrepreneurship, innovation

Premier Li said:"Mass entrepreneurship and innovation mean more employment. Though growth is moderating, more jobs are being created because new market entities keep emerging. Measures to streamline administration, delegate government power and reform the business system have enabled new businesses to get started."

Not all businesses turn out successful. In fact, few of them do. But young entrepreneurs in China and the world over are not asking for guaranteed success. They just want an opportunity to bring their best to the table.
