Ken Takakura, one of the most popular actors in Japan, has died at the age of 83, Kyodo news reports.
Ken died of lymphoma at a Tokyo hospital on November 10th, Japanese media reports say.
Ken is best known for his brooding style and the stoic presence he brought to his roles.
His performance in the movie "Kimi yo funme no kawa o watare" (You Cross the River of Anger) mesmerised the audience in China in the late 1970s.
