LONDON, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Former No. 1 Roger Federer beat eighth seed Richard Gasquet of France in straight sets for his first win in Group B at the ATP World Tour Finals here on Thursday.
Federer, who has dropped to seventh in the world rankings, defeated ninth-ranked Gasquet 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 21 minutes.
The 17-time Grand Slam winners, losing to world No. 2 Novak Djokovic in his first match, need to beat Juan martin del Potro of Argentina in the last match to qualify for the semifinals.
