MOSCOW, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that shortage of snow will not happen in Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

During his meeting with visiting President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach, Putin said he hoped there will be more snow in Sochi.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who also participated in the meeting, informed the IOC official that 500,000 cubic meters of snow have been stored for the Games.

The Black Sea resort of Sochi is Russia's only subtropical area and as such raises questions on its capacity to hold sport events in snow.

Putin and Bach participated in the opening ceremony of the new Adler railway terminal in Sochi built specially for the Olympics.

The IOC head has travelled to Adler directly upon his arrival to Sochi airport.

"The station will become another symbol of Sochi," Putin said during the ceremony, adding that the terminal is to become operational on Nov.1.

The 22nd Winter Olympics are slated for Feb. 7-23, 2014.
