Poland Embassy Open Daywas held on May 16. The singing and dancing performances and Polish language lessons made Chinese people fully enjoy Polish culture.
Performers come from Warsaw University Dance Ensemble "Warszawianka,". Wearing traditional Polish costumes, they provided audience with passionate singing and dancing. The wooden stage crunched under their quick and heavy dancing steps. Even audience was infected by their passion and was invited to dance together with them.

The dancing performance was followed by Polish language lessons and quizzes. Chinese participants showed great interest in learning Polish.

Most of the Chinese participants are university students. But there are exceptions. A 67 years old Chinese lady surnamed Hou also joined this embassy activity. It took her two hours to come here from her home in Daxing district, a suburban district of Beijing. She knew this activity from television and decided to take part in it. “I feel this activity is great fun! I’m quite interested in Poland,” said she.

Another lady surnamed Zhao works in a government department. “I come here because I want to visit Poland some day.” She showed interest in every quiz of Polish language and was asked by the anchor to leave some chances to others.

After the quiz, people visited the inside of the embassy and watched a video briefing Poland. The opening day started at 9 am and finished at 2 pm and the programs were repeated every hour.
As part of the 2011 E.U.-China Year of Youth, embassies of many E.U. Member States open the doors of their embassies and engage young Chinese and Europeans in a number of interactive and informative events.
The month-long program involves a wide range of activities, including lectures, visits of embassies' offices and ambassadors' residences, cultural performances, games, quizzes and lots more. All this will take place each day in a different European Union Embassy across Beijing from May 6 to June 3.
