The workshop enhanced people-to-people contacts through youth discussion, cooperation and presentations with the aim of promoting intercultural dialogue, mutual respect, cultural awareness and friendship between Chinese and European youth.

The first session (held on Jan 10.) included four presentations from the EU and China in order to introduce the topic of youth access to culture and to stimulate initial questions and discussion.

Pan Qing from China National Museum delivered the lecture “The Role of Museums in Facilitating Creativity and Cross-Cultural Experiences for Youths”, taking “CROSSING - Dialogues for Emergency Architecture” as an example.

Xing Lei from Dragon Design Foundation delivered the lecture “Approaches to Cultivate the Youth’s Creativity in the Design Culture”, taking five successful cases of Chinese youth creativity training to show the necessity of creativity training.

Mr. Jan, from European Commission, gave a speech titled “The Cultural Dimension of EU-China Relations”, listing the programs about China-EU cultural cooperation.

Lucie Lenkensova from EU committee introduced the EU Youth Strategy and “Youth on the Move”.

We believe those are good references for China-EU youth cultural exchanges.

In the end of the first session, four speakers answered questions briefly.
