Chinese telecom companies' cooperation with other countries is mutually beneficial and creates a win-win situation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said on Wednesday.
Hong made the remarks in response to a media request for comment on Chinese telecom firm Huawei's business in developed countries including Canada.
Hong said Chinese companies develop their international business according to the principle of the market economy and the nature of their capital investment is mutual beneficial.
"Their performance has promoted economic and trade cooperation between China and foreign countries and played an important role in improving local infrastructure construction," he said. "China and Canada have enjoyed sound economic and trade cooperation and it is in the two countries' common interests to make joint efforts to promote pragmatic cooperation in economy, trade and investment.
"Cooperation between China and other countries needs a favorable and stable environment. China hopes the countries involved will continue mutually beneficial cooperation with China and take positive steps to strengthen economic and trade cooperation," Hong added.
