The Rafah crossing which was disrupted by the military action in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula will be reopened from both sides with previous mechanism, official news agency MENA reported on Saturday.
The crossing will remain open from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m every day except the weekends and the official holidays. It will be operational as of Sunday on both Gaza and Egypt sides, MENA repored.
On Aug. 5, Egypt decided to close Rafah crossing with Gaza Strip indefinitely after a security checkpoint was attacked which left at least 16 soldiers dead and seven others injured.
Since the turmoil early last year, the security situation in Sinai has deteriorated. Hardline Islamists belonging to Jihad movements attacked police stations while local Bedouins committed several kidnappings of foreign tourists. The pipeline which exported natural gas to Israel and Jordan was also attacked more than ten times.
