The Kyrgyz parliamentary majority coalition has been dissolved due to the withdrawal of the Ar-Namys and Ata-Meken parties, coalition leader Kanatbek Isaev said Wednesday.
Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov and the current government will work on their posts till the formation of a new parliamentary majority coalition, which will form a new cabinet.
"I have signed a letter to the parliament speaker, calling for an extraordinary plenary session for consideration of a motion by 45 deputies to express no-confidence in the government," Isayev said.
Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev will soon give a mandate to one of the four parliamentary factions to form a new majority coalition, some deputies said, and the ruling Social Democratic Party led by President Atambayev has the biggest chance.
Isaev told Xinhua the ruling coalition has lost its parliamentary majority after its two factions, Ar-Namys (Dignity) and Ata-Meken (Fatherland), decided to quit on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
He said an official document on the dissolution has been submitted to the parliament speaker and the president.
Ar-Namys and Ata-Meken said earlier they considered quitting the majority coalition due to the inefficient performance of Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov and the shrinking national economy, and some members of the Ar-Namys party have accused Babanov of "systemic violation of the coalition agreement."
On Dec. 16, 2011, the Social Democratic Party, Republika (Republic), Ata-Meken (Fatherland) and Ar-Namys (Dignity) formed a new majority coalition in the Kyrgyz parliament, and Babanov was elected as the prime minister candidate.
Babanov was then elected by the parliament as the country's new prime minister on Dec. 23, winning 113 votes out of the total of 120 at an extraordinary meeting of the parliament.
Babanov, founder of the Republika party, served as the first vice prime minister of Kyrgyzstan in the transitional period after the ouster of former president Kurmanbek Bakiyev in April 2010.
