The health department in Sanya, Hainan province has received report of suspicious food poisoning cases from the wee hours on Aug. 13. By 10:30 p.m. Aug. 13, 120 guest of Howard Johnson Resort Sanya Bay had been hospitalized.
The reporter saw the poisoned guests under monitoring at the People’s Hospital and No. 425 Hospital of the PLA. “It might be caused by the fried rice with egg we ate in the morning. One of my friends is the worst affected. His stomach is still painful.”
Of the 120 guests, there are four Russian and two Japanese guests. They are in stable conditions now, said Zou Baocang, deputy head of the city’s health bureau.
The hotel began to receive report from guests about their discomfort on Aug. 12. The hotel then sent the guests with symptoms to hospitals and reported to the government, said Wang Li, head of the public relations of the hotel.
Wang said the hotel was preparing for the follow-up works and will compensate the guests with symptoms accordingly.
