A Chinese art exhibition "Chinese Elegant Transcending Culture" was open on Monday at the Academy of Arts in London, coinciding with the London 2012 Olympic Games.
"This is a perfect integration of arts and sports," said Tian Liming, deputy president of the Chinese National Academy of Arts.
On show are 160 Chinese brush paintings, oil paintings and sculpture masterpieces of 35 contemporary Chinese artists.
"The works at the exhibition are of influential contemporary artists in China, who have tried hard to understand the essence of Chinese traditional culture of the integration of the nature and human, while learning from outstanding cultures of other countries," Tian commented.
He Jiaying, a famous fine brushwork figure painter, said that he had brought his painting "Victory Goddess" to the exhibition to extend his best wishes to London. The painting was drawn to mark the holding of the 2008 Olympics Games held in Beijing.
The seven-day exhibition is jointly hosted by the China National Academy of Arts and the China Arts Foundation with supports from the Chinese Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Embassy in Britain and the British Embassy in China.
