Labor authorities nationwide have been asked to register records of unemployed college graduates and provide them with public services to help promote employment.

Employment promotion and related public service agencies should register the name of every unemployed graduate and keep records of their majors and job wishes, Xin Changxing, vice-minister of human resources and social security, said at the startup ceremony of a month-long national project for employment promotion of college grads in Kunming, Yunnan province, on Tuesday.

"Agencies should offer each unemployed graduate who wishes to find a job and needs employment service with due public services and track the effectiveness," he said.

Xin also urged labor authorities nationwide to provide favorable policies for college graduates who want to start their own businesses.

Skill-training subsidies and living allowances for internships should also be efficiently granted to graduates who have difficulty finding employment, he said.

The number of college graduates reached a new high of 6.8 million this year, 200,000 more than last year.

Xin also said that his ministry will hold a weeklong project in the third week of August to release and provide online employment information for college graduates.
