Chinese teenage divers won the men's 10m platform synchro final on Monday, carrying on China's gold streak in diving competitions at the London Olympics.

Cao Yuan and Zhang Yanquan, 16 and 17 respectively, resisted pressure from a British duo who were cheered on by home fans, as well as other chasers in the final, to amass 486.78 points for victory.

Mexican pair German Sanchez Sanchez and Ivan Garcia Navarro, seventh-placed in the event at the 2011 Shanghai World Championships, collected 468.90 to take a silver. The bronze medal went to American duo Nicholas McCrory and David Boudia who were fifth at the Shanghai Worlds in 463.47.

Host divers Thomas Daley and Peter Waterfield led for the first three of the six dives. However, their flaw in the fourth and fifth moves killed their chances for the gold and they fell out of the podium with a fourth place.

German duo Patrick Hausding and Sasha Klein, silver medalists in the Beijing Olympics and the 2011 World Championships, had a disappointing performance in the final and merely got a seventh place out of the eight competitors.

It is the second event of the Olympic diving competitions running from July 29 to August 11. Chinese Wu Minxia and He Zi pocketed the women's 3m springboard gold on Sunday.
