Belarusian authorities announced on Monday that a remote sensing satellite the country launched Sunday had entered its designed orbit.

The Belarusian satellite, which was launched together with four other space vehicles of Canada, Germany and Russia, has transmitted data to the satellite flight control center based in Minsk, capital of Belarus, according to head of the satellite flight control center Vladimir Yushkevich.

The Belarusian satellite was launched into orbit from the space launch facility in Baikonur, Kazakhstan, at 9:41 Minsk time Sunday. The satellite, which weighs about 400 kilograms and boasts panchromatic range resolution of about 2 meters, will be able to provide complete imagery of Belarus'territory.

Belarus tried to send its own satellite into orbit in 2006 but that launch failed because of technical problems.
